From Edinburgh to Madison - We Were Promised Jetpacks Soar at The Majestic

On October 25th, 2014, The Majestic in Madison, WI, played host to a spellbinding performance by Scottish indie rockers, We Were Promised Jetpacks.

Formed in 2003 in Edinburgh, the band comprises Adam Thompson on vocals and guitar, Sean Smith on bass, and Darren Lackie on drums. With Stuart McGachan on keyboards and guitar joining the ensemble in 2012, the band's lineup has evolved over the years. However, their sonic journey remains as potent as ever.

We Were Promised Jetpacks' discography is a testament to their musical prowess. From the debut album "These Four Walls" in 2009 to the evocative "In the Pit of the Stomach" in 2011, each release showcases the band's ability to craft emotive and compelling narratives through music. The live recording "E Rey: Live in Philadelphia" in February 2014 provided a glimpse into their captivating stage presence.

However, it was their third album, "Unravelling," released in October 2014, that served as the backdrop for their Madison performance. As the band took to the stage, the air crackled with anticipation. From the haunting melodies to the thunderous rhythms, We Were Promised Jetpacks enveloped the audience in a sonic tapestry unlike any other.

As the final chords faded into the night, I was left in awe of the band's ability to transport listeners to new realms of emotion and introspection. We Were Promised Jetpacks had delivered an unforgettable performance, leaving an indelible mark on The Majestic and igniting a passion for their music that would linger long after the final note had been played (but maybe that's becasue I studied abroad in Edinburgh, and Scotland is very near and dear to my heart)...
